This
year Vail Mountain will be celebrating its 50th year of operation
with a new, cutting-edge gondola. The new gondola features 10-passenger cabins
and will replace the Vista Bahn Express Lift in Vail Village. Come take part in
this season-long celebration during the 2012-2013 ski and snowboard season. Vail will be hosting all sorts
of events to celebrate a half-century of world-class snow adventures.
The new Gondola will officially debut on opening day, which is scheduled for November 16th, at 8:30am. The gondola was built by Leitner-Poma and will take passengers on a 7.5-minute luxury cruise from Vail Village to Mid-Vail. Each cabin has Wi-Fi access and heated, cushioned seats.
For the third straight year, the ski season will feature a visit from the US Ski Team. On November 15th, the 2013 U.S. Alpine Ski Team will be named in Vail. You’ll have the chance to catch Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso, and other popular Olympic gold medalists live and in person at Arrabelle Square in Lionshead starting at 5:00 pm.
This year, Vail’s annual Snow Daze concert helps kick off its 50th anniversary party. The event will be held between December 10th and 16th and will feature music from The Shins, Michael Franti, Wilco, and many more.
