Located just 1 mile from Vail Village, Vail Stables offers a variety of very scenic horseback rides. Their season runs from May 26 until October 1st. You should definitely book as far in advance as you can as they have a limited number of spaces available on trips per US Forest Service regulations. Kids rides are available for ages 5+.
